Halloween Question of the Day ….

Mrs Clinnick and I incorporated a Halloween theme into our day.  Reading groups were interesting!

Halloween blog

Halloween is often associated with America. However, we’ve learnt that this celebration has its origins elsewhere.

Who can name the country in which the Halloween tradition began?

Question of the Day …

Well done to Cody for being the first student to answer last week’s question correctly. Here is the next one:

What is the 6th line of our national anthem, ‘Advance Australia Fair’?

MCG Excursion

On Tuesday October 7th, all the year three and four students piled into three buses and set off to the MCG for our much anticipated excursion. This supported our Term 3 Investigations topic, ‘Lifestyles of the Fit and Healthy’, and also neatly ties in with our current topic, ‘Celebrate Australia’.

Students enjoyed an MCG tour by knowledgeable and friendly tour guides. They learnt a lot about the stadium’s history and were taken ‘behind the scenes’ to rooms they may have seen on TV, such as the locker rooms and press conference gallery. We also viewed the Hall of Fame, some amazing artwork depicting famous games and athletes, and the well known Long Room.

After their tour, students explored the National Sports Museum which included the interactive section, ‘Game On’. Between the skeletons of famous racehorses and model cricket pitches, there was something for everyone.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their excursion and found the day both fun and educational.  Furthermore, the teachers had terrific feedback from the tour guides about students’ behaviour.

What a wonderful day!

Ian tells the group about the MCG, and his ban on taking Collingwood supporters on tours :) Kyle and Brody were not impressed.
