Grade 3.4 Beaconsfield PS

What's going on in Grades 3 & 4?

What fun 3/4D, N and M had at the Caribbean Marketa yesterday! We listened to two business owners discuss the efforts they put in to create a successful business. It’s a lot of hard work!

Acrostic

Out in the bushes.

Where owls sit in trees.

Loud hoots through the night.

Sleepy through the day.

Strong zooming currents,

Rough stream to the waterfall,

Peaceful and quiet.

Caribbean Markets Excursion

Michelle talks about life as a fruit and vegetable stallholder

Michelle talks about life as a fruit and vegetable stallholder

We are about to leave the markets and head back to school. What a day! We’ve got so much to share.

UPDATE: We are back at school now. Thank-you to our parent volunteers for helping make it such a successful day. Our students learnt a lot of valuable information to complement their business studies, and enjoyed walking around the markets and taking the train ride!

Here are some questions for students:

1. How long has Michelle been running her fruit and veg stall?

2. What school subject do you have to be good at, to work in her stall?

3. Mary ran an arts and craft stall – where will you find her on Sundays?

4. What was your favourite part of the day?

3/4C Business Interviews

We have been learning all about businesses and how they work. Our students have had a great time interviewing different business owners and learning about the different jobs that exist.

Hamish interviews his dad, who runs a local vet clinic, while Ronan interviews his uncle who owns a mechanics business in Mitcham.

Chelsea interviews her Dad, who runs a telescope business. Meanwhile, Jenna shows us her 'Q & A with Jenna White' program that featured Shelley the educational psychologist.

Can you answer the following?

* How old was Ronan’s uncle when he bought his business?

* Steve the vet treated two kittens with funny names! What were they?

* What is Brad’s telescope business called?

What information stood out for you?

‘125’ Themed Activities!

20150603_092415

3/4C used the letters from the words one hundred and twenty-five to make as many other words as we could. What an effort! We eventually found 125 words and we are SUPER proud! 🙂

Can you make a sentence using only these words?
